In 1928 Scribners Magazine selected DeNeale Morgan from among 500 artists in Who’s Who in Art as “One of the group of most prominent women artists in America. From that time on, the California press usually referred to her as the “Dean of Women Painters”, and always stated that “she paints like a man.”
