<br>At the Carmel Art Association's  December/1940 exhibition, Elinor Minturn-James offered this critique in the 'Pine Cone' for Hansen's canvas, "On the Sands". "There's wind and witchery…a storm-ridden beach muted in mist; the glimmer of yellow oil skins under the great beached hull, the whipping of seamen garb in the strong salt gale."

<br>We purchased "On the Sands" in the 1980s from a retired Monterey County judge who had purchased it directly from Armin Hansen. We sold this painting in1989 and purchased it back in1994. Shortly after it was sold to a collector from the East Bay where it has remained in his collection for thirty years.  He passed away in 2024 and we had the opportunity to purchase it back through his adopted son, Executor of his estate.
