Earl Snook had been a good friend of Chief Plenty Coups of the Crow Nation, as well as artist Will James. The Snook Art Company was in business in Billings for over 100 years. <br> <br>The historic Snook Art Company building, frequented in its early days by literary genius' such as Ernest Hemingway and cowboy artist and author Will James, is now home to the newly renovated Snook Art Gallery, located at 2420 2nd Avenue North in downtown Billings Montana.

In October it was exhibited at the Haggin Museum (Stockton); and three exhibitions at the Carmel Art Association between 1937-1938. Afterwards, Morgan enjoyed living with "Late Afternoon," a favorite canvas of hers, and one for which she had received such special mention.

Wickett Home" - Palo Alto - Oil on canvas - 24" x 32 1/2" - Signed lower right <br>Frame: Richard Tobey Los Angeles <br> <br>1600 Bryant Street, Palo Alto… <br> <br>Accompanying this painting is a handwritten letter by Morgan to ‘My dear Mrs. Wickett’ with the details on when she plans to make the trip to paint the Wickett home. <br> <br>This home was built in 1923 for Frederick A. Wickett, Vice–President of New York Life Insurance, and City Councilman. It was the Wickett family home until Mr. Wickett's death in 1970. The architect was Albert Farr and the Minton Company was the builder. It remains as a Category 3 on the Historic Buildings Inventory.

Mary DeNeale Morgan - "Wind Swept Pines" - Moss Beach Dunes - Watercolor and gouache - 18 3/4" x 13 3/4" - Signed lower right <br>Titled on reverse <br> <br>In 1928 Scribner's Magazine named her as -one of the nation's foremost women artists. <br> <br>Morgan was born in San Francisco. From 1886-1890 and again in 1892, Morgan attended the California School of Design in San Francisco, where she studied with Virgil Williams, Amédée Joullin, Arthur Mathews and others. In 1896 she opened a studio in Oakland and, for a brief time, taught art at Oakland High School. <br> <br>In 1909 she settled in Carmel where she bought the studio-home of Sydney Yard located on Lincoln near Seventh. She was a pupil in Wm M. Chase's summer classes there in 1914, director of the Carmel School of Art (1917-25), and a founder of the Carmel Art Association, <br> <br>Morgan died in Carmel leaving a great legacy to California art as a teacher, organizer, and painter. Working in pastel, tempera, oil, and watercolor, she painted sand dunes, wharf scenes, adobes, landscapes, and the wind-swept cypresses of the Monterey Peninsula.
